Caring for Cut Lip, Tongue or Cheek

Many of times these mouth injuries are due to a fall or biting during eating. This can cause bleeding, swelling and discomfort to your child. Typically sutures are not needed unless there is a blatant gaping cut. To care for your child use a clean cloth and apply direct pressure to stop bleeding. If swelling occurs use a cold compress on the area.

Please call or visit your Hudson, WI pediatric dentist with any questions.

In the unlikely event the bleeding will not stop and your child has difficulty breathing please call 911 immediately.
